This feature will allow windows server 2012 to respond to ping from any other client.

Access control Panel from windows menu or search and find using the search option.
Once you have access to Control Panel, if you are using windows Category view, go to "System and Security"
Click on Windows Firewall. This will take you to firewall settings and you can edit or introduce new rules.
Click on Advanced Settings, This will take you to a window where you can introduce new rule or access existing rules and modify the settings according to your need.
Click on inbound Rules, on the right side, you will see a number of rules which are available for the server. The enabled rules are noted with a green tick mark. The grayed ones are Disabled rules. To enable Ping request, we would need the ICMP echo request to be enabled, which is used in ping. To enable the rule, we have number of options,
1, Select "File and Printer Sharing(Echo Request-ICMPv4-In)" right click and select "Enable Rule"
2, Or on the right hand side action menu, Click on Enable Rule. This will also enable the selected inbound rule.
Once the rule is selected and enabled, The notification will change to Green to show that the rule is enabled and active. Now you will be able to ping the server from any other client or from any monitoring tool.
