How to Create Protocol endpoints in Pure Flash Array using CLI

A Protocol Endpoint(PE) in Pure Storage terminology is a zero-capacity volume with a unique configuration that effectively functions as an ESX vVol mounting point. It is the only Pure FlashArray volume that requires a manual connection to ESX hosts in order to use ESX vVols. The vVols are connected to VMs through PEs acting as Sub-luns.
A Protocol Endpoint can be created and managed using both GUI and CLI commands.

Pure Storage uses Purevol create command to create a protocol endpoint.

The syntax is:
purevol create --protocol-endpoint  PE-NAME

purevol list --protocol-endpoint command will display the available protocol endpoints

When the first VASA is registered on the Storage System, it automatically creates a PE named "pure-protocol-endpoint". For proper identification purposes, we create more meaningful PEs and assign them to the ESX cluster.
